The two biggest names in the history of Swedish golf are coming together to jointly host a new tournament co-sanctioned by the European Tour and Ladies European Tour.

Annika Sorenstam and Henrik Stenson will host the newly formed Scandinavian Mixed tournament, which will be played for the first time in 2020 from June 11-14. A 156-player field consisting of 78 men and 78 women will compete in the same 72-hole tournament for the same title and the same purse in the event co-sanctioned by the European Tour and Ladies European Tour.

Sorenstam and Stenson have agreed to jointly host the tournament for the first three years, with Stenson competing in the tournament an Sorenstam appearing in pro-ams.

“I’m extremely excited to host the Scandinavian Mixed alongside Annika, one of the best golfers the world has seen, and to have men and women competing alongside one another showcases what is great about our game,” said Stenson.

Sörenstam said, “I’m delighted to host the Scandinavian Mixed alongside Henrik in Sweden for the next three years. Bringing women and men together in a combined tournament is exciting for fans in Sweden and for the global game as we continue to showcase golf is a game for everyone."

Both players will use the tournament as a vehicle to further their philanthropic efforts, including involving more kids in golf and supporting paragolf.

Bro Hof Slott Golf Club in Stockholm will host the tournament, which has previously played host to the European Tour's long-running Sweden event.

The purse will be €1.5 million. Money earned will count toward each tour's money lists, and the tournament will offer Official World Golf Ranking and Rolex Women's World Golf Ranking points, respectively.

This is the latest mixed-gender event run through the European Tour, which has promoted such combined events in partnership with the Ladies European Tour on both the European Challenge Tour (their Korn Ferry Tour) and the Staysure Tour (their PGA Tour Champions). The Trophee Hassan II and ISPS Handa Vic Open feature separate-but-simultaneous events for men and women.
